AUTOMOTIVE CASE STUDY
Orange County BMW: Building a Leading Presence in AI Search
A buyer-focused content program launched in January 2026. This case study examines what the resulting visibility and engagement data reveal across Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, and Toren Local.
The findings highlight page-level generative AI visibility, AI Assistant traffic, and competitive positioning. They do not establish that one platform or tactic caused every change.

The Strategy: Answer the Questions Buyers Actually Ask
Beginning in January 2026, Orange County BMW developed a library of buyer-focused educational resources supported by Toren’s AI market intelligence. The content addressed BMW models and capabilities, comparisons, ownership decisions, and purchase considerations.
The approach was to help shoppers find useful answers across stages of the buyer journey, not simply to publish more pages. Two educational resources, BMW M Models Explained and BMW Electric Vehicles Explained, were among the leaders for organic impressions in the supplied Search Console reporting.
Toren provides measurement and market intelligence to inform priorities. This case study evaluates observed performance, not a controlled experiment proving causation.
What the Data Reveals
Four views of the program’s measured performance. Absolute impression and session volumes are intentionally withheld.
Google Generative AI Impression Share
Eighteen confirmed Toren-created pages accounted for more than 92% of reported page-level generative AI impressions in the latest three-month period.
Top AI-Visible Pages
18 of the top 25 pages were Toren-created, including nine of the top ten.
AI Assistant Traffic
GA4 AI Assistant sessions increased 331% versus the previous three-month period; this does not establish Toren as the sole cause.
Competitive AI Visibility
Orange County BMW recorded 70% visibility versus 34% for the next competitor in Toren Local’s current automotive measurement set.
The 92%+ figure is based on the 18 confirmed Toren-created pages’ share of reported page-level generative AI impressions in the latest three-month export. The 2.06× comparison uses Toren Local’s current automotive prompt set.
Google Search Console: Content Leading in AI Search
Eighteen confirmed Toren-created pages appeared among Orange County BMW’s top 25 pages ranked by reported Google generative AI impressions. Nine of the top ten were Toren-created.
Those 18 pages represented approximately 92.3% of the dealership’s reported page-level generative AI impressions across the latest three-month export.
Within the top 25 pages alone, they accounted for approximately 95.5% of reported impressions. Two education-focused resources also ranked among the leaders in traditional organic impressions.

Google Analytics 4: AI-Referred Sessions and Engagement
For July 21–October 18, 2026, GA4 reported a 330.56% increase in AI Assistant sessions versus April 21–July 19, 2026.
The engagement rate for AI Assistant traffic moved from 58.33% in the comparison period to 73.55% in the latest period.
These are independent analytics observations. They should not be presented as proof that Toren-created content alone caused the increase.

Toren Local: Competitive AI Visibility
Orange County BMW registered 70% visibility in Toren Local’s current automotive measurement set. The next competitor registered 34%, making Orange County BMW’s visibility approximately 2.06 times as high.
This is a current competitive snapshot, not evidence of a steady historical improvement.
The automotive prompt set expanded significantly into lease and purchase intents, changing what is measured and limiting direct comparisons with older visibility percentages.

Educational Content With Organic Reach
In the supplied Google Search Console reporting, BMW M Models Explained and BMW Electric Vehicles Explained were leading educational resources by traditional organic impressions. This is a useful reminder that AI-oriented content strategy and organic search performance are not separate disciplines.

Measured Across Multiple Discovery Channels
AI search performance cannot be understood through a single metric. Toren combines its proprietary market intelligence with independent analytics to help businesses understand their visibility, competitive position, and opportunities.
Google Search Console
Generative AI + Organic Search. Shows which pages appear in Google’s generative AI search features and how they perform in traditional organic search.
Google Analytics 4
AI Assistant Traffic + Engagement. Provides an independent view of AI-referred sessions and visitor engagement.
Toren Local
Competitive AI Visibility. Measures a business’s appearances across relevant AI-generated responses compared with competing organizations.
Together, these signals provide a fuller picture of AI-driven discovery, from visibility and competitive positioning to traffic and engagement.
How to Interpret These Results
The figures are reported as rankings, relative shares, period-over-period changes, and competitive percentages to respect commercially sensitive absolute volumes. Search Console and GA4 use different signals and measurement methods; their percentages are not interchangeable.
Google generative AI impressions are drawn from the supplied page-level Search Console reporting. GA4 AI Assistant sessions cover July 21–October 18 versus April 21–July 19, 2026. Toren Local’s 70% versus 34% result reflects the current prompt set only.
Content publication, search visibility, referral traffic, and engagement are associated observations here—not proof of a causal relationship or a verified increase in sales or revenue.
